Overview:

Kate Somerville is seeking an ambitious and creative individual to join our team as a Social Content + Community Coordinator. In this role, you will be responsible for curating compelling content for our social media platforms while actively engaging with our online community. You'll play a pivotal role in shaping our brand's online presence and fostering meaningful connections with our audience. This is a hybrid position and requires being in our El Segundo office 2 days/week (Tuesday & Wednesday).

This position blends creativity, community, and execution and will directly report to the Social Media Manager + Content Strategist.

Responsibilities:

• Develop content for various social media platforms, including Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, Reddit, LinkedIn, and emerging platforms.
• Craft unique skincare content that captivates through brand storytelling.
• Conduct competitive research and generate new content ideas by identifying emerging trends.
• Assist in managing the social media calendar, daily posting, and performance monitoring to ensure creative quality and cohesion.
• Draft captions across all posts to maintain brand consistency and engage the audience effectively.
• Maintain and nurture the Kate Somerville online community by actively engaging with followers, responding to comments and messages, and fostering meaningful conversations. Continuously monitor channels for real-time engagement opportunities.
• Implement strategies to grow and nurture our online community. Identify opportunities to increase follower engagement, reach new audiences, and cultivate relationships with influencers and brand advocates.
• Ensure brand consistency in messaging, voice, and aesthetics across all social media platforms.
• Stay updated on social media trends and opportunities to position Kate Somerville at the forefront of the skincare industry.
• Collaborate closely with cross-functional partners to ensure seamless social integration and support for product launches, promotions, events, marketing campaigns, and other initiatives.
• Perform other responsibilities as needed.

Skills, Experience and Education Required:

• 1-2 years of content creation experience in a marketing setting with a strong portfolio, preferably including short-form video, particularly in the beauty space.
• A Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, or journalism is preferred.
• Must be based in Los Angeles, CA, and open to working in a hybrid model.
• Experience in concepting, creating, and posting brand content across owned social media channels.
• Comfortability working with in-app tools to create original content — e.g., filters, sounds, visual effects, etc.
• Strong storytelling skills with an eye for visual aesthetics.
• Strong passion for customers and community & therefore the ability to spark social conversation.
• Master of in-app editing across various platforms, including TikTok, CapCut, and beyond, to craft original content utilizing features like filters, sounds, and visual effects.
• Ability to ideate & concept original ideas both independently and in collaboration with team members.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills with meticulous attention to detail and grammar.
• A quick, adaptable, and natural storyteller who understands the Kate Somerville brand, voice, and aesthetic appeal.
• High-energy and upbeat personality, comfortable in front of the camera.
• Exceptional organizational and time management skills.
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment, while maintaining a positive attitude and growth mindset.
• Thorough understanding of social media best practices, platform algorithms, spotting trends + cultural moments, and measurement metrics for success.
• Proficiency with social media analytical tools such as Dash Hudson, Tribe Dynamics, Planoly, as well as native platform reporting tools for Meta, TikTok, etc., and social scheduling applications.
• Passion for all things beauty – skincare knowledge highly preferred!

The expected pay rate for this position is $20 to $30/hour. The exact hourly rate is determined by various factors including experience, skills, education, geographic location, and budget.

This position is also eligible for participation in the company discretionary bonus plan, based on personal performance and company results.
